Samir Gasim Group traces its roots to the 1920s, when the late Ahmed Gasim Fadul established a small family textile retail business in Sudan. Over the decades, that business developed into a diversified family enterprise with interests spanning manufacturing, food production, packaging, agriculture, trade, construction, real estate and services. Throughout its growth, the Group has remained closely connected to the values on which it was founded, combining long-term commercial ambition with a responsible approach to business and a commitment to future generations.
His son, Mr. Samir Ahmed Gasim, joined the family business in 1956, the year of Sudan’s independence. He played a central role in its expansion, transforming the business from a retail operation into a major textile importer, distributor and supplier serving customers across Sudan.
By the 1970s, the company had established a leading position in Sudan’s textile market. The Group subsequently diversified into new sectors, building businesses and partnerships that extended its reach well beyond textiles. Today, Samir Gasim Group continues to build on this heritage through a portfolio of established operating companies, long-standing commercial relationships and a third generation committed to strengthening the Group’s businesses and developing new opportunities.
During his leadership, Mr. Samir Ahmed Gasim also participated in the establishment and development of a number of significant Sudanese ventures, including Seleit Agricultural Project, Cotton Textile Mills, the National Bank of Sudan and Middle East Insurance Company. These investments reflected a broader commitment to supporting productive sectors and contributing to the development of Sudan’s private economy.
That same commitment extended beyond business. Mr. Samir and his brother, Mohammed, were instrumental in establishing Ahmed Gasim Hospital, creating an important healthcare institution with a strong social mission. Community contribution has remained an important part of the Group’s identity across generations.
Today, Samir Gasim Group combines its family heritage with a practical, long-term approach to investment and growth. The Group seeks to strengthen its existing businesses, develop new partnerships and pursue opportunities that create sustainable value for its companies, employees, partners, customers and the communities in which it operates.
